–verb
1. the act or process of close and penetrating analysis of oneself, to determine one’s true motives and sentiments.
2. to dig in dusty record crates looking for soul samples.
–noun
3. production team from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Soulsearchin started in the previous Milennium.
It was founded by Kurdish Mayfield and DJ Chief, who met eachother online as they both frequently competed in beatbattles. One day Kurdish sent his actual beatfile to Chief, who added layers. A lifelong partnership was born. In 2002 Kurdish drunkdialed Chief, and said “Don’t be mad, but Soulsearchin is now a trio. Trust me”. Sceptical at first, Chief later heard two beats, met the maker and it was undeniable. Lino Brown was added, Soulsearchin was complete.
Putting in work together resulted in an extensive discography, with over 100 releases in the early 00′s. In 2006 Kurdish’ newphew, Mr Benjamin, was added as an apprentice.
The first international release was in 2008. Over the years, a close friendship grew with Mr Probz, and with his marvellous hooks on the tracks Soulsearchin started working with international artists like Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and grammy award winning songwriters Jackie Boys. In 2010 they recorded a song with Joe Budden and Royce the 5″9, called 40-40. The whole process was broadcast through uStream.
Early 2011 Soulsearchin produced RBDJAN’s highly anticipated debute, “De Onderbaas”. It’s the first time they have produced a whole album, and it was nominated for “State Award best album 2011″. Soulsearchin was also nominated for an award in the category “best producer”.
Recently they produced the titletrack “Bloedgabbers” for the Heineken-kidnap movie, starring Rutger Hauer. Soulsearchin has also made their first steps writing and directing video’s and movies. The first short movie, “Linkerbaan” is finished.
Stay tuned.
